Witness to War is a ten-minute cinematic documentary you sit down and watch — and uncover. Eight chapters carry you from the gathering storm of the 1930s to the poppy fields of remembrance: lightning war, the Battle of Britain, Stalingrad, Pearl Harbor, the Longest Day, the home front, liberation, and the cost of it all.
Every frame is graded like a 1940s print — film grain, gate flicker, dust, scratches and a wandering projector hair — while a somber score breathes underneath. Strong cinematic narration runs through the whole film as on-screen intertitles and captions, paced the way a documentary should be: slowly, deliberately, with time to look.
There is a quiet game woven through the screening. Eight declassified archive files appear as dossier markers during the film — catch them to file each one in your Archive exhibit, from the Miracle of Dunkirk to the codebreakers of Bletchley Park. Jump between chapters from the intermission, scrub the timeline, or return anytime: Chapters selects any moment, and your archive collection is remembered between visits.
Headphones recommended. Runtime about ten minutes.
